Volunteer Information 


Applications to become a Volunteer ( paid-on-call) Firefighter are available during normal business hours at the Fire Department or Haleyville City Hall. Applications will be taken from anyone 21 years of age or older that live inside the Haleyville Police Jurisdiction. Applications will remain on file for a period of one year. New volunteer members are hired by the city council upon recommendations based on a majority vote of the members present during a Thursday Night Fire Drill. An open position will be announced a minimum of two weeks in advance of voting in a new member. All new members will be required to pass a medicical physical and criminal background check. All new members will be required to complete the 160 hour volunteer firefighter certification class within 3 years of becoming a paid on call member of Haleyville Fire/Rescue.
