Newburg Road House Fire July 30th, 2005
Haleyville,Pebble, Delmar and Bear Creek Fire Departments responded to this early morning house fire located on Newburg Road just past Blake Curve. Upon arrival firefighters were faced with heavy fire conditions and began a defensive attack. 1200 feet of 5" supply line was laid from a hydrant located near the Haleyville Veterinary Clinic to supply Pumper 2 and Ladder 1. It took firefighters less than an hour to bring the blaze under control but firefighters remained on scene for over 2 1/2 hours performing salvage and overhaul operations. The house sustained heavy fire and heat damage but firefighters were able to rescue several of the families pets. Responding apparatus included Pumper 2, Ladder 1, Rescue 1, Tanker 5 and Tanker 6.
